时政翻译包括的范围很广，如时政新闻翻译、政府文件翻译、领导人演讲稿翻译等等。在翻译过程中（尤其是中译英），常常会出现许多被“偏爱”的词语、表达、或者搭配。反复出现多次之后，许多看似简单的表达搭配，我们似乎仅凭自己的“直觉”就能翻译出来。然而，这些来源于已有翻译经验的“直觉”真的靠谱吗？
     

举个例子，以下是我们从几篇时政类演讲中学习时，发现的高频中文表达的对应地道翻译：

 

一、李克强在中欧城镇化货币关系高层会议开幕式上的讲话

 

1. 我这次访问欧盟国家，从被誉为多瑙河明珠的布达佩斯，到人称欧洲首都的布鲁塞尔，一路走来，深刻感受到欧洲城市凝重古朴的传统和多元时尚的风貌。

（1）我这次访问欧盟国家

-直觉：When I visited EU countries

-官方译文: on my current trip to the EU(介词短语放在句首更加简洁地道)

（2）欧洲城市凝重古朴的传统和多元时尚的风貌

-直觉：cities with a combined feature of primitiveness and modernity （太抽象）

官方译文：the rich historical heritage and diverse and modern appeal （具体，地道）

 

2. 公平共享

直觉：equal and could be shared by the mass

其实有一个常用的固定译法：( we aim to) deliver equitable benefits to all

 

3. 在…的大背景下

直觉：with the background of…

地道译文：in the age of, against the backdrop of

 

4. 探索新方向

直觉：find a new way/path/direction

地道译文：blaze a new trail

 

5. 友好城市

直觉：friendly cities, brother cities

地道译文：sister cities

二、习近平在G20峰会工作午宴上关于中国主办2016年峰会的发言

1. 积极信号

直觉：positive signal

灵活翻译：encouraging signal或promising signal

 

2. 我们深深感受到各方的期待。

直觉：We deeply felt people’s expectation.

地道：We have a keen sense of people’s expectation.

 

3. 世界经济基本走出危机

直觉：the world economy is basically out of crisis

灵活翻译：the global economy is no longer mired in crisis

 

4. 经济治理改革进展不畅

直觉：global economic governance is not going well/smoothly

地道翻译：global economic governance has hit a rough patch

 

5. 提高世界的抗风险能力

直觉：improve the world anti-risk capacity

地道：enhance the capacity of risk-resilience / to ward off risks

 

6. 深层次问题

直觉：in depth issues

地道翻译：deep-rooted issues 或deep-seated issues

直觉：major forum （用太多就太无聊了）

灵活翻译：premier forum

 

8. 上有天堂，下有苏杭

官方译文：Up in heaven, there is paradise; down on earth, there are Suchou and Hangchou. （既准确，又照对仗）

 

9. 2016峰会将给大家呈现一种历史和现实交汇的独特韵味

（1）独特韵味：

直觉：unique flavor（这句话如果真的这么直译，你觉得合适吗……）

（2） “历史和现实交汇”

直觉： history meets reality

地道译文：present a unique setting where history meets modernity. （其中“现实”译为modernity，是因为文中的“现实”其实是指现代都市气息，而不是冷冰冰的reality）

 

10. 杭州是历史文化名城，也是创新活力名城

直觉：

Hangzhou is not only a famous city of history and culture, but also city of innovation and vitality.

地道译文：

Hangzhou is a renowned city of history and culture, but also a leader in innovation.

 

由此可见，“我以为我会翻译”不代表“我真的能翻译的好”。。。想要翻得更好，就要更地道、更简洁、更精准。总之，不能全靠以往经验或“直觉”翻译。
